From Hype to Evidence: Practical Lessons from AI Projects in Schools Around the World

Three years since generative AI tools were made available to the public and entered our classrooms, we now have some initial evidence that can help schools move past the hype and ask clearer questions: what impacts are actually emerging as AI enters the teaching and learning process, and what can school teachers and leaders do with that information?

Kristina Cordero, Deputy Director of Strategy and Research at Educate Ventures Research (EVR), shares recent experiences, evidence and reflections from her portfolio of projects studying AI in teaching and learning — including an action research programme run within a coalition of over 400 school leaders in the UK. Moving beyond the headlines, her talk will draw on EVR’s work around the world to suggest what it might mean for British schools in Argentina and elsewhere in Latin America. Kristina will also offer a glimpse at some of the practical frameworks EVR uses to guide schools through a moment that raises as many opportunities as it does questions and risks.
