Caty Franco Díaz

Caty started working in Mexico City with preschool and elementary children in 1984 as an ESL Teacher, using a traditional teaching approach. In 1989, she founded “The Workshop, ESL programme”, based on an active and constructivist approach.

In 1992 she developed a toddler-preschool programme, under the same structure and methodology of the ESL school, placing Art as the main axis in the children´s learning process.

Her work has been showed in several National and International Forums including Cuba, Mexico, USA and Ireland. In the fall of 2006, Innovations in early education magazine published an article featuring The Workshop as a unique school with a unique methodology. The Workshop has also received the Yucatan State Quality Award.

Caty is still the Principal at The Workshop, which now runs all programmes in the same facilities: Toddler, Preschool, Elementary and the ESL after-school programme.  A second facility which hosts the successful Secondary School programme and soon to be High School was opened in 2015.

The Workshop has different alliances with important educational institutions such as the University of Texas High School Programme, the British Council ESL examinations, the French Alliance official language programme and just entered the Cambridge International Schools network since 2016.
